Anybody involved in bicycle or motorcycle fabrication for a while will end up seeing one of these at some time. I have never seen one done with a true finish coating so I figured that I would do that for this holiday season.
Construction
If using 3 different sized cogs, the largest one is left uncut, the second largest (halved) is welded first, the smallest (halved) is welded last.
Paint or Chrome?
I found out that the prep work and cost to have these chromed was out of scale with the project. I decided to test some special powdercoat.

Swivel
A high quality fishing swivel makes it so that the orniment can spin without spinning the line. A nice touch.
I used some fancy safety wire tricks to mount the swivel to the orniment. I'm still working on the right touch.
