Yesterday I raced the Rockhopper Enduro in Rockville Regional Park. It was a great event that raised funds for local high school league racing. The weather and conditions were perfect. I don’t ride at Rockville very often and this gave me a great excuse.
Surprisingly, it came out that I had won my class and all was good….then…just before leaving for the day…looking at times with Scott Thomas (the rider in front of me), we realized that I would have had to have passed him on Stage 3 to get the time that was recorded. That stuck with me on my drive home. I kept thinking about how that could be. A timing error? But how to figure it out? My plate confirmed the time. They shouted the time “2:02″ at the end of my run. The official results listed the time.
I realized that I could look at my garmin. That would show a massive difference in time. A good thing I was one of the few people logging data.
I didn’t win my class at the race. There was a tie. There was a timing error on Stage 3. The reported time was 2:02. It should have been 2:31. The GPX data doesn’t lie. Ugh.

Here’s how my runs looked. Obviously, I need to do something about my fitness and heartrate issues for better race results.
